Mia DiPietro
I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Byram Hills Board of Education. I am running for a third term on the School Board because I believe strongly in public education and care deeply for the Byram Hills community where my husband grew up and where we chose to raise our family. As a working mom, I have always prioritized being involved and volunteering in my children’s schools. The past six years as a Board Member have afforded me the opportunity to collaborate with a team of amazing parents who all bring our individual talents, professional and life experiences to the table.
I have a proven track-record of commitment to Byram Hills Public Schools. I am a leader who gets things done, working collaboratively to solve problems.
I am currently serving my sixth year as a Trustee on the Byram Hills Board of Education. I previously served as Board Vice President during the Pandemic. I sit on the Audit and the Policy Committees and serve as the Board's Communications Liaison to the Preschool Association (BHPA) and the PTSA.
Prior to joining the Board of Education, I served on the Byram Hills Preschool Association Board for five years, acting as liaison to the Board of Education. I managed the BHPA Facebook page and served on the Working Moms Committee.
I grew up in South Africa and moved to Scarsdale where I attended High School. I completed my Undergraduate at Clark University where I studied Psychology and Elementary Education. I started working for Marsh McLennan almost 24 years ago planning corporate events. I went to Columbia University at night to study Systems Analysis and Design. I was able to parlay my studies into a new career path at the same company. I currently work from home as a Senior HRIS Specialist where I manage computer systems that deliver, track, and support corporate learning.
As a mother of three Byram Hills students, I have always been involved in the school in any way I could. I was a Board Member of the Byram Hills Preschool Association for several years. I am an active member of the PTSA and spent many years as class parent and continue to be a member of CHILD and the Working Parents Committee. I was a Girl Scouts troop leader for many years and am a parent volunteer for the High School Theater Program.
Each of my children, just as each child in the school district, has his/her own set of strengths and skills that need development. I have and will continue to fight tirelessly to provide an environment where these skills will be developed and nurtured. I am honored to have played a small part in offering the amazing programs available to them.
