Jason Berland
Jason is seeking a second term on the Byram Hills Board of Education and he is currently the Vice President of the Board. Jason sits on the Audit Committee, Finance Advisory Committee and Health and Athletic Advisory Committee, and was previously a member of the Policy Committee. Jason also serves as the Board's liaison to the Town of North Castle and is the Westchester Putnam School Boards Association Legislative Advocacy Committee representative.
Jason previously served a full six-year term as a Board Member of the Byram Hills Education Foundation (BHEF), where he chaired the Fundraising Committee and Grant Committee, and spent his final four years as Chairman of the Board. During his tenure as Chairman, the BHEF funded over $1 million in grants, touching all four schools in the District. Many of these grants were signature grants, such as the library overhauls at our elementary and middle schools, the 21st Century classrooms, the Coman Hill play space, the technology labs at HCC and Wampus, and the District-wide wellness initiative which saw the BHEF and District partner with Challenge Success to ensure our children continue to receive a world-class public education without losing focus of students’ mental well-being.
Jason is a partner at the international law firm of Lewis Baach Kaufmann Middlemiss, where he focuses primarily on government and regulatory actions, internal investigations, white-collar criminal defense, international asset recovery and general commercial litigation. Jason’s commitment to public service extends far beyond his work in North Castle. In the public sector, Jason served for eight years as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office. Jason also sits on the Board of Tzahal Shalom of Northern Westchester and spent many years on the Management Team of the Armonk United Soccer Club. Jason and his wife, Faith, have lived in North Castle for ten years and have three children attending the Byram Hills schools; Sophia is in 12th grade, Jacob is in 9th grade, and Ethan is in 5th grade.
